Frequently Asked Questions

Is HER clinic the right fit for me?

Do I need to be diagnosed with an eating disorder to work with you?

I provide evidence-based treatment for eating disorders including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, OSFED, ARFID, and disordered eating. I also support ADHD-related nutrition concerns, body image difficulties, and anxiety around food. If you have an eating concern, please reach out! I am passionate about compassionate, client centred care and looking at the whole picture of health and mental wellbeing.

No. Many people I work with don’t have a formal diagnosis but struggle with eating, body image, binge eating, restriction, or feeling stuck around food.

Are you a psychologist?

What is it like to work with you?

No referral is required. However, a referral from your GP or psychiatrist is needed if you wish to access an Eating Disorder Plan (EDP) for Medicare rebates. Seeing a GP regularly is an essential part of care that we strongly advocate for.

Yes. Clients with an active Eating Disorder Plan or Chronic Disease Management plan may be eligible for rebates depending on the service provided. Your GP can advise which plan is appropriate. The rebate is $61.80. See here for more information about Eating Disorder medicare plan.

I use evidence-based treatments, meaning the approaches I offer are supported by scientific research and have been shown to be effective for people with eating disorders. These include therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT-E), Family Based Therapy (FBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Specialist Support Clinical Management (SSCM). I recognise that no two clients are the same, so treatment is thoughtfully adapted to honour each person’s experiences, identity and goals.

No. I am an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) with specialist training and experience in eating disorder care. I am also a Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician (CEDC), which means I have met formal standards for specialist training, supervision, and experience in the assessment and treatment of eating disorders. This credential reflects advanced competence in evidence-based, ethical, and collaborative eating disorder care, and supports safe practice with complex presentations.

My studies in a Diploma of Counselling allow me to further my therapeutic skills in effective communication and motivational interviewing using established counselling modalities.

My work focuses on the relationship with food, body image, and the thoughts, beliefs, and patterns that influence eating behaviours, using evidence-based approaches such as CBT-E, HAES-aligned, and trauma-informed principles.

While I incorporate psychological concepts, I do not provide formal psychological therapy or diagnoses. When deeper psychological support is needed, I work collaboratively with psychologists, GPs, and other health professionals to ensure you receive the right care.

Clients often describe working with me as compassionate, collaborative, and different to approaches they’ve tried in the past. Rather than focusing only on what you eat, we explore why eating has become hard in the first place.

My approach focuses on behaviour change to help you get unstuck, with an exploration of the underlying beliefs that drive eating patterns.

I work with people who are often highly sensitive, thoughtful, or self-critical, and whose eating struggles make sense when you understand their history, beliefs, nervous system, and life context.
